Become Environmentally Responsible: Environmental Responsibility Falls on Each of Us Equally

Environmental conservation is the responsibility of every single human on this planet. It’s time for us all to wake up and realize that the protection and preservation of our beloved Earth must be dealt with on a personal basis. We cannot continue to wait for irresponsible and unconcerned governmental agencies to save our planet; they are the main reason it is in its current state. We cannot continue to hope that major (and minor) corporations will voluntarily become proactive in their stances to conserve resources and minimize pollution; they never will. We cannot continue to idly sit by and watch our fellow humans act irresponsibly towards our home; they will wipe us out with their continued ignorance and careless actions.

Each of us have to act - and act with deliberate intention to help reverse the devastation that has been unleashed on this planet!

Every day, we here in the news about how the forests are disappearing; how the ozone layer is depleting; how the rivers are poisoned with pollution; how the animals are mutating and how time is running out quickly for any hope to restore our natural gifts giving to us by Mother Nature. This is not just something on the television! This is the sad state of our world. Our population is not environmentally responsible - and it needs to be!

The highly competitive ways of capitalistic societies affords us too little time to consider the fact that we all came from nature. It wasn’t that long ago either. A short 150 years ago, humankind had to develop and sustain much closer relations with the natural world. We were a part of it every day. Our great grandparents knew no other way except to exercise environmental responsibility.  Today, we are hidden away from nature in our cities - barely ever having the time to consider conservation, let alone actively pursue it. We always have plenty of “good” reasons to offer for our lack of caring as well. It has to stop.

Every human being can make simplistic and wholesome changes in the ways that they lead their lives in an effort to embrace our natural surroundings and make positive, life-sustaining differences. Becoming more environmentally responsible isn’t difficult; it’s natural. Let’s take a look at just a few changes that we each can effortlessly make to better all of our lives:

We can spend just a little time and effort to recycle:

It is true that over half of the entire planet’s forests are already gone. More than 95% of the original forested areas in the US are gone. Without our individualistic intervention, the governments of the world will continue to allow deforestation to occur in unrestricted proportions. Governments and corporations care only about money and profit. They care nothing for wildlife habitats and biodiversity. When we make it a point to only use recycled products, we eliminate a large part of the demand for products created from raw resources and hence the need to harvest them for that production.

We can easily and constantly inform our elected officials that environmental responsibility needs to be addressed at the forefront of every political gathering:

Go on, pick up the telephone. Write a letter. Send an email. Visit official websites and post comments. Give to environmentally inclined charities. There are an unlimited amount of different ways that you can make your mark. Put a sign in your yard or in the windshield of your car. Instead of talking about the weather to strangers, bring up the concept of conservation. Do anything and everything that you can to bring this issue of paramount importance into the direct attention of each person you meet. The power of positive word of mouth has always been and continues to be the most effective advertising medium. Employ it to help save our planet. Environmental responsibility is for all to embrace.
